IDOL in the Liberec Region

How does the IDOL system work?

The basic principle is a single ticket for all modes of transportation. The entire region is divided into fare zones. The price of your trip is calculated based on how many zones you pass through and how long your trip takes.

  • Zones and time: You pay for the trip from point A to point B. The ticket is valid for a set period of time, during which you can transfer as often as you like (e.g., from a train to a bus or tram) without paying extra.
  • No worries about transit operators: It doesn’t matter whether you’re riding a blue or red bus or train. As long as it’s part of the IDOL system, the same ticket is valid.

Why is IDOL a good deal?

  • One ticket for everything —you don’t have to worry about whether you’re taking a bus or a train
  • Easy transfers —the ticket is valid for a set period and allows for transfers
  • Clear prices —you know in advance how much you’ll pay
  • Various payment methods —cash, card, or mobile
  • Time-based and Network Passes – save money with a multi-day pass if you travel regularly

Where is IDOL valid?

IDOL covers the entire Liberec Region. This includes cities and towns such as:

  • Liberec (including public transit)
  • Jablonec nad Nisou (including public transit)
  • Česká Lípa (including public transit)
  • Turnov (including public transit)
  • Semily
  • Frýdlant
  • Nový Bor
  • Železný Brod
  • Tanvald
  • And dozens of other municipalities in the region

IDOL is also valid at the borders with other regions —we have overlapping coverage with the Central Bohemian Region (PID), the Hradec Králové Region (IREDO), the Ústí nad Labem Region (DÚK), and the city of Zittau in Germany (ZVON).

Bus routes

Suburban bus routes throughout the Liberec Region. You can recognize them by their signage and schedules featuring the IDOL logo.

Regional and long-distance trains operating throughout the Liberec Region. For example, the Liberec–Turnov, Liberec–Zittau, Liberec–Tanvald routes, and others.

Public Transit

Public transit in Liberec, Jablonec nad Nisou, Česká Lípa, and Turnov is part of the IDOL system. You can use the same tickets here as on suburban routes. In some other cities, you’ll also find routes that supplement suburban transit for local service, and the IDOL fare applies on them.

How does the IDOL system work?

One Ticket for All Trips The foundation of the integrated system is a single ticket valid for all participating transit operators. The entire Liberec Region is divided into fare zones, and the price of your trip is calculated based on how many zones you pass through and how long the trip takes.

  • Zones and Validity Period: You pay for the trip from point A to point B. The ticket is valid for a set period during which you can transfer freely (for example, from a train to a bus or tram) without having to pay extra.
  • It Doesn’t Matter Which Carrier You Use: It doesn’t matter whether you board a blue or red bus or a Czech Railways train. As long as the connection is part of the IDOL system, the same fare and the same ticket apply.

Traveling Beyond the Region’s Borders (Overlapping Areas) The IDOL system does not end at the borders of the Liberec Region. To facilitate travel to neighboring regions, so-called overlapping areas have been established, where the system cooperates with neighboring integrated systems: Central Bohemia (PID), Hradec Králové (IREDO), Ústí nad Labem (DÚK), and Germany (ZVON).

  • How it works: In these areas, selected routes operate under two fare systems simultaneously. This means that both the IDOL fare and the fare of the neighboring region apply on a single route.
  • Which fare applies: When purchasing a ticket, the system generally determines the fare based on your boarding location. If you board in the Liberec Region, you will receive an IDOL ticket. If you board in a neighboring region, the fare of that region’s system applies. However, when traveling between regions (inter-regional trips), you often have the option to choose the fare that is more advantageous for you.
  • Transferring: With a valid ticket (paper, card, or mobile), you can transfer to connecting services in a neighboring region within its time and zone validity, provided they are part of the overlapping territory.
