Overlap between IDOL and IREDO

B_Č-Troskovice_linka 391-zastávka_léto-2019-detail
What is an overlapping area?

The overlapping area is where the Liberec Region (IDOL) and the Hradec Králové Region (IREDO) meet. In this area, selected bus and train routes operate under both systems simultaneously. Both the IDOL fare and the IREDO fareapply on these routes .

The rules for traveling in the overlap area may differ slightly from the standard rules in the Liberec Region.

Basic Rules for Traveling in the Overlap Area

Which fare should I use?

Depending on your boarding location
If you board in the Liberec Region, you will be sold an IDOL ticket. If you board in the Hradec Králové Region, you will be sold an IREDO ticket. Ticket sales depend on which region you start your journey in.

You can choose
If you’re traveling between regions, you can request a ticket for the other fare zone. For example, you board in the Liberec Region but want an IREDO ticket. Just mention this when purchasing your ticket.

Travel within a single region
If you’re traveling only within a single region (both your starting and destination stops are in the same region), you should buy a ticket for your home region’s fare zone. It doesn’t matter if the route passes through a neighboring region.

Can I transfer between systems?

Yes. With a valid IDOL or IREDO ticket, you can transfer to a connecting route even in a neighboring region. There’s just one condition: the routes must overlap (both fare zones must be covered by the ticket).

Example: You’re traveling from Semily to Libuň with an IDOL ticket. In Jičín, you can transfer to a bus that will take you the rest of the way within the IREDO service area. However, it must be a route where IDOL is valid.

What if the route goes beyond the overlapping area?

If you need to travel beyond the overlapping area and cannot purchase a ticket based on a single fare, use the IDOL-IREDO route-based fare schedule. A non-transfer ticket based on the route-based fare schedule will cover your entire journey.

A split fare (a combination of IDOL and IREDO on a single ticket) is not available.

What benefits do I get with an IDOL ticket?

When you purchase an IDOL inter-regional ticket, all IDOL fare offers apply to you. This includes the benefits of cashless payment and the Idolka mobile app. It doesn’t matter where you board.

Where can I travel with this ticket?

You can purchase a single-ride ticket to any zone within the integrated system, even outside the line you board.

Combining a Pass and a Single-Ride Ticket

If you have a pass and need to purchase a single-ride ticket, you don’t buy it when you board. You’ll buy the ticket (or validate your pass) only at the location where it’s valid.

How can I tell if a line overlaps?

By the zone number in the timetable

For each stop in the timetable, you’ll see the fare zone:

  • IDOL = four-digit number (e.g., 5012)
  • IREDO = three-digit number (e.g., 301)

If you see both, you’re in an overlapping zone.

Based on the logo in the timetable header

The header of the bus timetable usually displays the logos for both systems (IDOL and IREDO).

In the current list of routes

You can find a list of all overlapping routes and the IDOL fare zone coverage in Appendix 2 of the SPP IDOL here.

Note: For train timetables, zone assignments may not always be up to date due to slower updates.

In the IDOS search engine

Use the IDOSsearch engine and set the filter for the relevant integrated system.

How do I pay the fare for overlapping routes?

IDOL Fares and Payment Options

Prices correspond to the current IDOL fare schedule. IDOL tickets are transferable. All carriers in the IDOL system offer the same payment methods:

In cash
To the driver or conductor.

Via e-wallet
Using an Opuscard, Opuscard+, or IREDO card. You can also use this e-wallet to purchase tickets for the other system.

Credit/debit card
Contactless payment directly on the vehicle.

Idolka mobile app
Self-service purchase on your phone and validation upon boarding. The app offers only IDOL tickets.

Time-based passes (Time Passes and Network Passes)

Purchase them in the IDOL e-shop, via the Idolka mobile app, or at IDOL service locations.
