Transport in the Tri-Border Region (Czech Republic, Germany, Poland)

IDOL extends into Germany and Poland not only through its fare structure but also through its IDOL routes

Like IDOL, the ZVON integrated fare system is zone- and route-based. It covers the Saxon region of Upper Lusatia–Lower Silesia, which includes the border town of Zittau, located at the tripoint of the Czech, German, and Polish borders.

Rail Lines

• The overlapping section of the IDOL and ZVON fare zones is on Line 089 between the stations of Hrádek nad Nisou and Zittau (i.e., both fare zones can be used here).

• The following Trilex trains operated by Die Länderbahn (DLB) are integrated into the IDOL system for travel to Zittau:

  • L7 Liberec – Zittau – Varnsdorf
  • RE2 Liberec – Zittau – Dresden
  • T9 Liberec – Zittau – Mikulášovice

• The full range of IDOL fare options is available within the Zittau zone.
• For journeys continuing to Varnsdorf on lines L7 and T9 , you must use the non-integrated Trilex fare or, alternatively, the SJT fare—but only for trips entirely within the Czech Republic (even if passing through German territory)—or the integrated ZVON fare.Trilex trainsare not integrated into the IDOL system on the Varnsdorf–Zittau section.
• For trips further into the German interior on the RE2 line, you can use the trilex fare , the integrated ZVON fare , or a combination with another German fare (e.g., D-Ticket).
• The EURO-NISA-Ticket+ international ticket is also valid on all lines within the IDOL fare zone and on lines within the ZVON fare zone (on lines L7 and T9 along the entire route, including the Šluknov region).

Bus Routes

• 691 Hrádek nad Nisou – Zittau (DE) – Bogatynia (PL) – Frýdlant (CZ) – Świeradów-Zdrój (PL)
• 692 Zittau (DE) – Porajów (PL) – Bogatynia (PL) – Frýdlant (CZ)
• There is no overlapping fare system.
• IDOL tickets are valid on these routes for:
  • intra-regional trips (within the Czech Republic, even through the territory of a foreign country),
  • “inter-regional” (cross-border) trips (Czech Republic–Germany, Czech Republic–Poland).
• Non-integrated fares also apply for Germany–Poland, Poland–Poland, and Germany–Czech Republic trips, with the option to pay in EUR or PLN.
• Valid single-zone ZVON tickets for the Zittau zone are accepted on these routes, specifically on the Zittau–Bogatynia section, as well as ZVON route-based and time-based tickets valid for the Bogatynia zone. Ticket inspections are conducted visually.
• Routes 691 and 692 are covered by the EURO-NISA-Ticket+ international ticket along their entire route, including ticket sales (pricing according to the IDOL Tariff).
• When boarding with a valid IDOL coupon, there are no restrictions on the combination of boarding and alighting locations, even for routes outside the territory of the Czech Republic.

Bus routes operated by the German carrier ZVON are not integrated into the IDOL system. In Zittau, passengers may transfer to public transit routes within one hour of purchasing an IDOL ticket to Zittau. This applies only to tickets issued on routes 691 and 692 (not on trains on lines L7, RE2, or T9).
On routes 691 and 692, you can purchase a EURO-NISA-Ticket+ in CZK according to the IDOL fare schedule, even within Poland and Germany.
