What is an overlap area?

The overlapping area is where the Liberec Region (IDOL) and the Central Bohemian Region, including Prague (PID), meet. In this area, select bus and rail lines operate under both systems simultaneously. Both the IDOL fare and the PID fareapply on these routes .

The rules for traveling in the overlap area may differ slightly from the standard rules in the Liberec Region. That’s why we’ve summarized them here.

What are the fare options in the overlap zone?

On routes between the Liberec Region, the Central Bohemian Region, and Prague, you’ll encounter several different situations:

1. A single fare covers the entire route

At least one of the systems (IDOL or PID) is valid along the entire route.

2. Both fare systems apply everywhere

Both IDOL and PID are valid simultaneously along the entire route.

3. Split fare (combination of both systems)

Neither fare covers the entire route. For such a trip, a split fare is generated that combines IDOL and PID.

4. Route-based fare for AMS (combined fare with seat reservation option)

Option to purchase a PID/IDOL non-transfer route ticket online for a specific connection on selected lines and routes, with the option to reserve a seat.

5. IDOL+Prague Route Fare (with seat reservation)

Option to purchase online (or directly on board) a non-transfer direct route ticket for a specific service on selected lines and routes with the option to reserve a seat.

When will you encounter a split fare?
 You’ll find the first two options on routes between the Liberec and Central Bohemia regions. The split fare mainly applies to routes running through Prague.

Basic Rules for Traveling Across Regions

  • Are you traveling from the Liberec Region? Buy an IDOL ticket.
  • Are you traveling from the Central Bohemian Region? Buy a PID ticket.
  • Are you traveling within the overlapping zone? You can choose which fare to use (just let the driver know).

How does the split fare work?

Tariff changes are only possible at stops where the bus stops.

If only one fare applies at your boarding location:
The first fare is automatically set to the last stop where it is valid. Then the second fare is automatically added until your final destination. The second fare takes effect at the time specified in the schedule.

The same procedure applies in reverse (when you board under the second fare).

You can choose the transfer point
Here, too, you have a choice. You can request that the second fare zone begin at a stop of your choice. The condition is that the bus stops there.

Where can I travel with my ticket?

Both IDOL and PID tickets are transferable. They are not tied to a single line. You can request a ticket to continue on to other zones or bands in a neighboring system.

Examples:

  • With an IDOL ticket, you can travel on to Frýdlant
  • With a PID ticket, you can travel to the inner zone of Prague

Travel within a single region

If you’re traveling only within a single region (both your starting and destination stops are in the same region), you should purchase a ticket based on your home region’s fare. It doesn’t matter if the route passes through a neighboring region.

But note:
 With a valid IDOL or PID ticket (single-ride or multi-ride pass), you can also travel within a neighboring region’s system. Your ticket will be accepted.

Combining a Pass and a Single-Ride Ticket

If you have a pass and need to purchase a single-ride ticket, you cannot do so when boarding (technically, this is not yet possible). During the trip, you must check in again at a stop where you can validate your connecting ticket.

The same rule applies to validating a ticket in the Idolka or PID Lítačka app.

Seat Reservations on Routes to Prague

Starting January 1, 2026, seat reservations will be available on select long-distance routes to Prague. You can easily purchase a seat reservation in advance through the e-shop or the app, ensuring you’ll have a seat.

Routes: 400, 405*, 410, 700, 720, 730

  • The ticket price is the sum of the IDOL/PID (* PID/IREDO) segments with a fixed transfer point.
  • The reservation fee is not included in the IDOL/PID fare schedule; it is added according to the reservation service’s price list (15 CZK).

Routes: 190, 900

  • The ticket price is the sum of the IDOL segments plus the Liberec Region–Prague segment.
  • The reservation fee is not included in the IDOL/PID fare schedule; it is added according to the reservation service fare schedule (15 CZK).

The number of seats available for reservation is limited to a portion of the vehicle. The attachments provide an overview of the individual bus types operating on the listed routes, showing the seats available for reservation. The remaining seats are freely available for any combination of trips. This also applies to seats for which no reservation has been made on a given route.

Exception to the Standard Rules

Route 405 Prague – Mladá Boleslav – Jičín – Jilemnice – Vrchlabí – Špindlerův Mlýn

Three systems (PID, IREDO, IDOL) are currently being tested on this route. Until further notice ,PID/IDOL multi-leg fares cannot be sold.

What does this mean for you?
You must purchase an IDOL ticket or a valid ticket in the IDOL app only at a location where IDOL is valid. On the Jičín–Vrchlabí section ,the contact point for PID and IDOL fares is the Jičín bus station.

  • 720 Rokytnice nad Jizernou – Vysoké nad Jizernou – Semily – Železný Brod – Turnov – Mladá Boleslav – Prague
  • 730 Vítkovice, Horní Mísečky – Jilemnice – Semily – Turnov – Prague
