The Future of the Turnov Train Station: Faster Transfers and Greater Safety

As the IDOL transportation coordinator, we are monitoring preparations for one of the most significant railway construction projects in our region—the renovation of the Turnov station, which is being planned by the Railway Administration. For us and for you, the passengers, this represents a major improvement in the quality of travel.

Why is this modernization crucial for the future?

No more long waits: Currently, it takes about 18 minutes for trains arriving from all directions to enter the station and for passengers to transfer. Thanks to new technologies and computerized control, this time will be reduced to 5 minutes. This will allow us to create much more attractive schedules. Smoother Route to Jičín: Trains will no longer have to make a complicated turnaround at the station but will pass directly through Turnov. This will shorten the journey by precious minutes. Safe and barrier-free movement: The current at-grade crossings over the tracks will be replaced by a modern underpass with elevators. This is essential because, at the new station, passengers will be able to move safely between platforms even while other trains are in motion. Preparing for a modern line to Prague: The project in Turnov is already being coordinated with the future modernization of the Liberec–Prague connection. It also includes all preparations for future electrification so that the completed station will not require further modifications down the line.

The reconstruction, which the Railway Administration is currently preparing, primarily concerns the track layout, platforms, and technology. As your transportation coordinator, we will inform you in a timely manner about specific dates and any potential service disruptions.
