The first weekend of Advent is here, and with it comes the magical atmosphere of the holiday markets!

Take advantage of our IDOL network and travel comfortably throughout the Liberec Region, or use the EURO NISA Ticket+ to explore markets in Germany and Poland.

We’ve put together an overview of long-term and multi-day Advent markets in the Liberec Region, Česká Lípa, and Mladá Boleslav, as well as recommendations for Dresden, Bautzen, Görlitz, and Jelenia Góra!

Advent in the Liberec Region or Mladá Boleslav

Liberec

Traditional markets on Dr. E. Beneš Square: Running from November 26 to December 23

  • Transportation: Liberec is a central hub and transportation junction for the entire IDOL network. It is connected to all parts of the Liberec Region by a dense network of bus, train, and tram lines.

Jablonec nad Nisou

Main markets: Open from December 17 to December 21

  • Route 141: Liberec, Bus Station – Jablonec nad Nisou, Bus Station
  • Tram Line 11: Liberec, Fügnerova – Jablonec nad Nisou, Tyršovy sady
  • Integrated long-distance Line 190 to the capital: Jablonec nad Nisou – Liberec – Prague
  • Connection eastward to the Jilemnice and Pojizeří regions: Line 952 Jablonec nad Nisou – Vysoké nad J. – Semily / Rokytnice nad J.

Česká Lípa

Here, the main Advent markets take place on T. G. Masaryk Square, where a Christmas fair, fairy tales, and concerts are held from December 1 through 23.

Zákupy Castle

A long-lasting Christmas atmosphere at the castle: Experience it from November 29 to December 23.

Mladá Boleslav

Evening Advent Markets at the Exhibition Grounds from November 28 to December 31.

Weekend Specials

Turnov: Regional markets will be held on December 12–13

  • Accessible via train lines R21, R22, L03, and the extensive IDOL bus network.

Zákupy (Castle): The weekend special runs from December 12–14.

  • When traveling from Liberec, expect a transfer in Česká Lípa.

Advent in Germany

⚠️ IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION NOTICE: Service suspension on the Liberec–Zittau section.

  • The ongoing suspension of train service by the German carrier trilex (Länderbahn) on the Liberec–Žitava (Zittau) section will last until December 13, 2025.
  • Trilex trains on lines L7 and RE2 are being replaced by substitute bus service (NAD) along the entire Liberec–Žitava route.
  • Practical impact: Expect longer travel times. IDOL and EURO NISA Ticket+ are valid on the replacement bus service.
  • Tip: The Christmas Kometa to Dresden runs via replacement buses from Liberec on November 29, December 6, and December 13—check the special timetable! Current information, including the temporary schedule, can be found here

Dresden

  • The world-famous Striezelmarkt: Runs from November 26 to December 24
  • Accessibility: RE/NAD connections with the EURO NISA Ticket +.

Bautzen

  • Romantic markets in Upper Lusatia: Visit from November 28 to December 22
  • Accessibility: With the EURO NISA Ticket + and trilex/NAD lines L7 and RE2.

Görlitz

  • Markets with a charming Silesian flair: They take place here from November 28 to December 14.
  • Accessibility: With the EURO NISA Ticket + and trilex/NAD Line L7 connections.

Weekend Specials

  • Bad Muskau: The weekend market takes place November 29–30. Accessible with the EURO NISA Ticket +. The route goes via Zittau/Görlitz on the trilex L7/RE2 NAD, then by regional train (e.g., RB 65) to Weißwasser, and finally by PlusBus 80 directly to Bad Muskau.
  • Bischofswerda: St. Nicholas Weekend takes place here from December 5 to December 7. Accessible with the EURO NISA Ticket + and trilex/NAD connections on the RE2 line.

Advent in Poland

Weekend Specials

  • Jelenia Góra: Experience Polish Advent from December 12–14. Available with the EURO NISA Ticket +, primarily via the train line from Harrachov through Szklarska Poręba operated by Koleje Dolnośląskie or via train connections from Görlitz/Zgorzelec.
  • Zgorzelec: The markets on the Polish side run from December 12–14. Accessible with the EURO NISA Ticket+. The fastest way is by train/NAD Trilex L7 to Görlitz and then on foot across the border bridge to the center of Zgorzelec.

EURO NISA Ticket + Prices

The EURO NISA Ticket + is an all-day network ticket valid for trains, buses, and trams throughout the Liberec Region (IDOL) and in most border areas of Germany (ZVON) and Poland (KŚ/KD).
