Don't miss the changes to the train schedules effective December 14, 2025

1. 9. 2025

On August 29, 2025, the Railway Administration published updated draft train schedules for the period from December 14, 2025, to December 12, 2026. They reflect the status following the evaluation of suggestions received during the annual comment period. From the published list, we are providing a preview of the timetables relevant to rail service in the Liberec Region.

The 2025/2026 train timetables can be found on this website in the “UPCOMING CHANGES” section at this link here.

The most significant change will be on Line 089 (L7 Liberec – Hrádek nad Nisou – Zittau – Varnsdorf – Seifhennersdorf and RE2 Liberec – Dresden), where a completely new timetable will be introduced.

The journey between Liberec and Varnsdorf will be approximately ten minutes faster (a 15% reduction in travel time). Passengers will be able to transfer between trains not only in Liberec but also, for the first time, every full hour in Zittau. This will significantly expand travel options. There will thus be hourly train connections from Liberec to Varnsdorf, Dresden, Görlitz, and Berlin, respectively, with travel times approaching those of driving. On weekdays, priority is given to direct service between Varnsdorf and Liberec for students and commuters. On weekends, direct services from Liberec to Varnsdorf and to Dresden alternate regularly.

In the currently presented timetable for the Liberec–Chrastava section, the scope of service at stops may be adjusted around 5:00 p.m. on weekdays, as negotiations are underway regarding the priority reservation of track capacity for the passage of a freight train. Trial operations to test punctuality will take place on the line for several months, during which, among other things, waiting times for L7 and RE2 trains due to other delayed connections will be significantly reduced.

These changes have been planned and requested by all four operators of both cross-border lines for more than fifteen years. Thanks to cooperation with the track operators, they can finally be implemented this year. At the modernized stations in Hrádek nad Nisou and Chrastava, trains will primarily use new side platforms accessible directly from the street and from buses. As a result, most passengers will no longer have to enter the tracks via an underpass, which will shorten the walk to the train.

On Line 036 (Route L1 Liberec – Tanvald – Harrachov – Szklarska Poręba), following an agreement between the Liberec Region and the Lower Silesian Voivodeship, the number of connections or the number of operating days per year will be slightly increased on the cross-border section.

Following an evaluation of the trial operation and in light of the further development of the on-demand transport service TvůjBus, train service on Line 037 between Nové Město pod Smrkem and Jindřichovice pod Smrkem will be limited on weekdays.
