20 Years of Comfort: Who Oversees Transportation in the Liberec Region Behind the Scenes?
1. 10. 2025
KORID LK is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. For many passengers, the company’s name is primarily associated with timetables, the IDOL system, or the latest developments in public transportation. But what happens “behind the scenes” to ensure that public transportation in the region runs smoothly and reliably? Controllers play a key role in this, and their work is just as important as the actual operation of buses and trains.
This involves comprehensive oversight of the entire public transportation system. They ensure that contracts with transport operators are fulfilled, whether it involves adhering to schedules, deploying the correct vehicles on routes, or verifying that stops are properly marked and equipped with up-to-date information.
What does an inspector’s job entail?
- Quality standards: Inspectors check the cleanliness of vehicles, the functionality of air conditioning or heating, and the drivers’ behavior toward passengers. The goal is to make the ride as pleasant as possible for everyone.
- Adherence to Schedules: On-time departures and arrivals are crucial for passengers. Inspectors therefore monitor the punctuality of connections and collect data that helps continuously improve the system.
- Proper Vehicle Deployment: It’s not always obvious, but each route is served by a specific type of vehicle to meet both capacity and technical requirements. Inspectors ensure that operators adhere to this plan.
- Mystery shopping: In addition to scheduled inspections, inspectors occasionally take on the role of an ordinary passenger. This is known as “mystery shopping,” during which they discreetly verify the quality of service and staff behavior in real-world situations.
- Cooperation and Feedback: Inspectors are in constant contact with dispatch centers and other KORID employees. Their findings and data serve as the basis for further negotiations with transport operators and for ensuring a better travel experience for residents of the Liberec Region.
Thanks to this work, the number of complaints about the quality of public transportation has been decreasing, which, as annual reports show, is a long-term trend. The inspectors’ work is the unseen pillar that holds the public transit system together and ensures that people in the Liberec Region can rely on their connections.
By striving to continuously improve its operations even after 20 years and by paying close attention to every detail, KORID LK reaffirms its goal of offering residents and visitors to the region modern and reliable transportation.
This was the final post in the “Korid 20 Years ” series.
