Come visit the heart of the Jizera Mountains

Discover the beauty of the Liberec Region in comfort via public transportation, directly from the regional capital.

On the northern slopes of the Jizera Mountains, between Liberec and the Frýdlant promontory, lies the Jizera Mountains Beech Forests National Nature Reserve, the first Czech natural monument to be inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. The area is not suitable for “quick hikes.” You cannot reach the main destinations by car; you must walk, and the route is usually several kilometers long with significant elevation gain.

By combining the L6/L62 train line and the 650 bus line, you won’t need a car—and given the unique natural setting of the Jizerské Mountains Beech Forests, it’s not even advisable. Moreover, by using public transportation, you can enjoy the luxury of starting at one location and, 12 km further on, boarding a train or bus as part of the integrated transit system.

For example, if you’re heading to Paličník and choose Smědava as your starting point, you can spice up your trip with a visit to Smrk, the highest peak in the Czech part of the Jizera Mountains.
