The Skiing Museum in Dolní Branná
In a beautiful, restored log cabin, Mr. Aleš Suk—a former coach of many Krkonoše Olympians—will guide you through the history of winter sports. Here you’ll see exhibits on skiing, sledding, and ice skating.
- When to visit: Open every Saturday (9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m.). Tours on other days are available by appointment.

Stop in Horní Branná
Just a short distance away, in Horní Branná, you can visit the castle with its “Life Beneath the Mountains” exhibition or the Harrach family mausoleum.

Krkonoše Museum in Jilemnice
Housed in a Neo-Renaissance castle in Jilemnice is a museum you shouldn’t miss. It features permanent exhibits on the origins of skiing, the Harrach family, and the legendary figure of Krakonoš.

How to Get There with IDOL
Travel to the region is easy by train or bus.
By train: From Liberec, take line L3 or R14A to Stará Paka.
- To Dolní/Horní Branná: In Stará Paka, transfer to line V41. Get off at the Horní Branná stop ; the Skiing Museum is about a 900-meter walk from there.
- To Jilemnice: From Stará Paka, continue on line V41 to Martinice v Krkonoších, where you’ll transfer to the local line L9.
By Bus From Liberec, you can use direct or connecting services:
- Line 940: Direct service from Liberec to Jilemnice to Špindlerův Mlýn.
- Line 960: Service from Liberec to Semily to Jilemnice.
