A Trip to One of the Most Impressive Waterfalls in the Czech Republic

Especially during the winter season, when the water often transforms into breathtaking ice formations, the view of the Mumlava Waterfall is one of the most beautiful experiences. Combine your walk with a visit to the nearby town of Rokytnice nad Jizerou.

How to get there with IDOL

Traveling by public transportation is convenient and very busy on weekends.

  1. By train to Harrachov Take the L1 train line from Liberec to Harrachov to Szklarska Poręba Górna, which departs from the Liberec train station. On weekends, this service runs every hour.
  2. To the waterfall by bus: From the train station in Harrachov (which is a bit out of the way), you can reach the town center and the waterfall by taking bus line 943 (Harrachov, Train Station – Harrachov, FIT-FUN Hotel). The bus connects with every train.
  • Where to get off: If you get off at the “Harrachov, aut. nádr.” stop , it’s just a short walk to the waterfall.

On foot or on cross-country skis to Rokytnice

From the Mumlava Waterfall, you can continue along the yellow hiking trail all the way to Rokytnice nad Jizerou.

  • For cross-country skiers: If you bring your cross-country skis, you can extend your trip along one of the many groomed trails. There are dozens of kilometers of them in the Harrachov and Rokytnice area.

What to See in Rokytnice: Viewpoints on Stráž Hill

In Rokytnice nad Jizerou, don’t miss the forest park on Stráž Hill. Here you’ll find unique lookout points named Bear, Fox, Sheep,and Miner, which offer magnificent views of the valley and the surrounding hills.

  • How to getthere: From the town center, you can reach the lookout points after a roughly 2-km walk along the hiking trail (a combination of yellow and red markers).

The Way Back

To return to the regional capital, take bus line 900 from Rokytnice nad Jizerou to Jablonec nad Nisou to Prague.

This route will take you to Jablonec nad Nisou, from where you can continue by connecting bus or tram all the way to Liberec.
