What's new in the schedule starting December 11?

Starting Sunday, December 11, new schedules will take effect as part of a nationwide change, and the Liberec Region has introduced many new features in public transportation. What will these changes mean for passengers?

The most significant change in rail service is the change in the operator on the L2 line between Liberec
and Děčín. Operations will be taken over by Die Länderbahn CZ s.r.o., which has been operating
trains on the L4 line from Rumburk via Česká Lípa to Mladá Boleslav since last year. “This marks the completion of the process
contractual arrangement for rail service within the so-called Česká Lípa Railway. All trains on this L2 line will
guaranteed to use barrier-free railcars. We therefore expect this change to result in greater travel comfort,” says
Jan Sviták, deputy governor in charge of the transportation department.

Modernized trains will be gradually introduced on lines L2 and L4, with the modernization process expected to be fully completed in the third quarter of 2023. Several changes are also being made to the L2 line’s schedule. Instead of the 5:11 a.m. train from Česká Lípa to Děčín on weekdays , a new afternoon service will depart from Česká Lípa at 3:56 p.m. There will also be schedule adjustments for several evening services on Line L2. An important note for passengers is that all ticket sales points at stations will remain in place; only their operator will change. For the summer, the Liberec Region is preparing a new service in the form of direct trains on Line U11 from the Litoměřice area to Máchovo Lake.

As for regular service, the biggest change is the introduction of a direct connection between the Jilemnice area and Prague.
In connection with the expansion of long-distance routes between the Liberec and Central Bohemia Regions and Prague, starting
December, there will also be adjustments to the Špindlerův Mlýn–Jilemnice–Jičín–Prague route. The Liberec Region, in cooperation
with the Hradec Králové Region will support the operation of this route with 8 round-trips on weekdays and 6 round-trips
on weekends. “We are pleased that, in cooperation with the Hradec Králové Region, we can complete the project to connect
with Prague. We view this connection as important not only for the residents of the Liberec Region but also for the development
tourism,” states Sviták. The route will be scheduled based on
transport to and from the Vrchlabí and Jičín hubs. “In Jilemnice, it will connect with Line 947, or Line 991 in the summer, heading
Horní Mísečky (Zlaté návrší in the summer). Next year, proposals will be prepared to expand connections
in other directions as well,” adds Otto Pospíšil, managing director of KORID LK.

Other changes include, for example, increased service to Horní Mísečky during the winter, when, in
cooperation with the municipality of Vítkovice, the ski bus will be integrated into the existing IDOL 947 route.
There will also be a change on Line 115 between Jablonec nad Nisou and Rychnov u Jablonce nad Nisou.
The Liberec Region will take over the operation of this route, which was originally a city route. This is a logical outcome of the fact
the route is more suburban in nature and the Liberec Region already contributes
in full. However, neither the route’s schedule nor the fare structure will change. There will be a slight change in the boarding procedure, which will be
the same as on other suburban routes, and the vehicles will offer a greater number of seats.
All services will continue to be provided by accessible buses.

Based on feedback from municipalities and passengers, a large number of “minor changes” have been implemented throughout
throughout the Liberec Region, most notably in the Českolipsko area. Close cooperation between
the Coordinator and the municipalities has also resulted, among other things, in the introduction of new services under the so-called “premium” service model.
“For example, in cooperation with the town of Jablonné v Podještědí, two new round-trips will be introduced to
Heřmanice, and in cooperation with the municipality of Kytlice (in the Ústí nad Labem Region), service to and from Nový Bor will be expanded,”
Pospíšil points out.

Many other towns and cities in the region work closely with the Liberec Region. For example, in Turnov, Nový
Bor, Semily, Frýdlant, Tanvald, and Harrachov, public transportation is provided in this way.
As in previous years, timetables are available for purchase in print. This year, too,
a timetable covering the entire region will be published. The retail price is 30 CZK, and they are available at the IDOL Customer Center
, at the transport operators’ information centers and in selected towns, as well as at certain bookstores.
