Train schedules will feature some changes starting February 5, 2024. Additional night trains will begin running.

Starting February 5, 2024, train schedules in the Liberec Region will be temporarily adjusted. Additional night trains will depart from Liberec to Česká Lípa, Frýdlant, Hrádek nad Nisou, and Semily. Night Trains from Liberec Even on Weekdays: Until now, trains on routes from Liberec have departed around 12:35 a.m. from Liberec toward Tanvald (Desná), Frýdlant, Hrádek nad Nisou, Semily, and Česká Lípa (shooting range), but only on days followed by a day off (non-working day), i.e., primarily on the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.Starting February 5, night trains will run every day. The existing service with departures around 0:35 from Liberec will remain in place. On other days, the new services will depart an hour earlier, half an hour before midnight from Liberec—generally from Sunday through Thursday.Last year, the Liberec Region commissioned a study titled “Vision for the Liberec Region After 2050.” As part of the study, a survey and a workshop with students were conducted.“We are interested in keeping the younger generation in the region throughout their working lives. Public transportation is one of the most important topics of discussion for them. I was pleasantly surprised by the students’ interest, as well as their positive assessment of transportation services,” says Martin Půta, governor of the Liberec Region, explaining the survey results.“The only criticisms from the younger generation concerned the lack of high-quality rail connections between the entire region and Prague and the limited number of nighttime services. The regional government has been addressing these issues for a long time.”“We have been actively negotiating with the Ministry of Transport and the Railway Administration for some time to improve rail service to Prague. The issue of improving intercity night transportation falls under the jurisdiction of the Liberec Region, which is why we were able to respond immediately to the students’ requests by expanding the night train service between the region’s main cities to daily operation,” added Jan Sviták, the statutory deputy governor in charge of the transportation department. New Early-Morning Trains for Commuters to Liberec Along with the introduction of night trains, new early-morning connections will depart from Semily and Česká Lípa in the opposite direction.From Česká Lípa, the first train to Liberec will now depart as early as 4:51 a.m. This service was requested primarily by commuters traveling to work in more distant parts of Liberec.The new train from Semily, Železný Brod, and Turnov to Liberec fills a gap in the current public transportation schedule during the morning rush hour and will arrive in Liberec at the convenient time of 6:25 a.m.Timetable Adjustment Between Liberec and Zittau Due to Delays: Starting February 5, train TL20942 will be shortened from Zittau to Hrádek n.N. On the section from Liberec (5:30) – Hrádek n. N. (5:52), the train will continue to operate without changes. The reason for shortening this service is to address the current train delays along the entire line during the morning rush hour on weekdays. The line between Hrádek n. N. and Liberec is the second busiest in the Liberec Region. Unfortunately, traffic volume on the line has now reached its capacity limits, and it is no longer possible to run additional trains on the line without causing delays. Renovations of the Chrastava and Hrádek n. N. stations are planned for 2025, which will partially improve the current outdated and inadequate state of the infrastructure. However, a solution to all operational problems on the railway between Liberec and Varnsdorf will only come with the repair and speed increase on the Polish section of the line.
