The Liberec Region Will Expand On-Demand Transportation to Two Additional Areas

During the spring months, the Liberec Region will expand its on-demand transportation service to two additional areas. To date, this type of service has been operated under the TvůjBus IDOL brand between Nové Město and Jindřichovice pod Smrkem. Passengers in the Železný Brod area and in Hrádek nad Nisou will now also have access to this service. Some of the connections between Železný Brod and Horská Kamenice will be transferred to Route 851. These are primarily school buses departing at 7:35 a.m. from Horská Kamenice and at 1:53 p.m. and 3:53 p.m. from Železný Brod.

Service between Koberov and Malá Skála for students commuting to the local elementary school will be provided on Route 864 (*), with the morning arrival in Malá Skála at 6:57 a.m. and afternoon departures at 1:24 p.m. and 3:21 p.m.

“On-demand transportation has proven successful between Nové Město and Jindřichovice. We are now preparing to expand the service to the Železný Brod area and the vicinity of Hrádek nad Nisou,” says Daniel David, deputy governor in charge of the transportation department.

Residents of the Železný Brod region will be the first to benefit from the planned expansion; after Easter,
i.e., starting April 7, TvůjBus will largely replace Route 854, which connects Železný Brod with Horská Kamenice and the local districts of Koberov–Vrát and Prosíčka. During school rush hour, the vehicle will run according to the schedule; at other times of the day, it will operate as on-demand transportation, which passengers can book via the TvůjBus IDOL mobile app, or by phone at the IDOL Central Dispatch Center, which has set up a new phone line for ordering on-demand service: 705 525 999.

“The advantage of this solution is that we were able to eliminate the need for a large bus in the area and replace it with a passenger vehicle for on-demand service. Furthermore, as part of the optimization of the driver’s waiting area, it will be possible to provide transportation in the region based on passengers’ current travel needs,” explains Otto Pospíšil, managing director of KORID LK. It will now be possible to provide public transportation even to locations where conventional buses cannot operate, such as Chloudov and Chlístov.

Starting in May, the TvůjBus service will also expand to Hrádek nad Nisou and Chotyně. A pilot program and data collection will be conducted there, based on which service coverage in the area will subsequently be optimized. The long-term goal in this area is to eventually replace service to Oldřichov na Hranicích and the shuttle connections to the Dolní and Horní Sedlo areas. However, passengers from Loučná, Dolní Suchá, Václavice, Uhelná, and Chotyně will also benefit from this service.

In both cases, the on-demand transport service will be fully integrated into the IDOL integrated transport system, from which fares will be derived. In the Železný Brod region, transportation will be provided by BusLine LK, and in Hrádek by ČSAD Liberec. The estimated compensation for each region ranges from 1.5 to 1.8 mil. Kč.
