The Liberec Region Will Expand Bus Route 141
12. 10. 2023
The Liberec Region will increase service on bus route 141 from Liberec to Jablonec nad Nisou.
The main goal of this special change, prepared by KORID LK, is to increase service during the morning rush hour on Route 141 between Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou. Starting Monday, October 16, an additional bus will depart for Jablonec nad Nisou every day after 7:00 a.m. to accommodate the growing number of students commuting from neighboring Liberec.
A new additional service will depart from Liberec at 7:10 a.m., stopping at the Obchodní akademie station in Jablonec. Combined with the existing 7:15 a.m. service, this will significantly increase capacity. In the past, the service arriving in Liberec at 8:30 a.m. had already been reinforced, as its occupancy exceeded 100 passengers. For now, this is a temporary solution until the December timetable changes take effect. However, a permanent change is the addition of a service during the afternoon rush hour: a 3:50 p.m. bus from the Fügnerova terminal to Jablonec nad Nisou.
“Route 141 is one of the busiest routes in the Liberec Region. We primarily use 15-meter buses on this route, and the number of passengers is steadily increasing,” said Jan Sviták, Deputy Governor for Transportation. “I am pleased that the transportation coordinator—KORID LK—is analyzing this trend and gradually responding to the growth in ridership as much as possible. I would also like to thank ČSAD Liberec, which responded flexibly and quickly to our requests and will be adding more buses to the route to Jablonec nad Nisou.”
KORID LK has been reviewing and preparing further adjustments since December 10 of this year. This time, the focus will be on strengthening service during the morning rush hour in the direction of Liberec, with arrivals between 7:30 and 8:00 a.m., where a 10-minute interval is already in effect. “We are preparing a set of measures, but during the morning rush hour we are, of course, most limited by the availability of vehicles and drivers. In the case of Line 141, we’re also limited by the capacity of the Fügnerova terminal, where we don’t want to—and can’t—block traffic with another vehicle,” explained Otto Pospíšil, managing director of KORID LK. “By increasing the number of trips, we also believe that this will reduce the delays that occur during rush hour.”
