Starting in September, the Liberec Region will expand bus service between Jablonec and Prague

On Sunday, September 3, changes to the bus schedules will take effect. The biggest change is the addition of two pairs of trips on weekdays and one pair on Sundays to bus route 900 between Jablonec and Prague.
“The Liberec Region has long supported the operation of interregional routes, and the Jablonec–Prague route is no exception. By increasing service, we are responding to the growing demand for this route,” says Jan Sviták, the statutory deputy governor in charge of the transportation department.
The new trains will depart from Jablonec on weekdays at 6:50 a.m. and 9:20 a.m., and on Sundays at 3:50 p.m. (this train will depart from Tanvald). From Prague, services will be introduced on weekdays at 7:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and on Sundays at 5:00 p.m. (running all the way to Tanvald).
Line 900 was created by merging regional lines between Jablonec, Tanvald, Harrachov, and Rokytnice nad Jizerou with the Jablonec–Prague express line, whose service had been significantly reduced following the COVID-19 pandemic. “The Liberec Region has effectively saved this fast connection between Jablonec and Prague,” added Sviták.
“The route between Jablonec nad Nisou and Prague continues to operate as an express service. An added benefit of this connection is the direct link between the Jablonec region and the mountain resorts, as well as a faster connection from the mountains to Prague,” explains Otto Pospíšil, managing director of KORID LK. A Rokytnice–Prague service runs roughly every two hours, and the route has been reinforced with additional Jablonec–Prague services to ensure that the connection between the region’s second-largest city and Prague is available every hour. “From an efficiency standpoint, this connection has proven very successful for us, but of course we must respond to passenger demand and occupancy rates. We are now adding new services to the route. We are already in talks with the carrier BusLine regarding the purchase of additional high-capacity 15-meter vehicles for the routes to Prague,” concluded Pospíšil.
