New schedules will take effect on Sunday, December 14.

What will this year’s schedule changes mean for passengers in the Liberec Region? This year brings several significant changes, both in terms of transportation services and the IDOL fare system.

“We firmly believe that the changes we are preparing will bring many positive outcomes and make public transportation in the Liberec Region more attractive to passengers,” says Jan Sviták, Deputy Governor in charge of the Department of Transportation.

The most significant change in rail transport is the introduction of a completely new schedule on the Liberec–Hrádek nad Nisou–Zittau–Varnsdorf line following the completion of track reconstruction. In addition to repairs and modernization on the Czech side, a long-awaited repair of the section on the Polish side has been completed after many years. Once all these projects are finished, it will be possible to run trains approximately every hour “on the half-hour” from Liberec to the “on the hour” junction in Zittau. Travel times from the Šluknov Hook region to Liberec will also be reduced. During peak hours, additional shuttle services between Liberec and Hrádek nad Nisou are still planned, and in the morning, following the end of the track closure (as of the announcement date), a new additional train will arrive in Liberec at 7:07 a.m., thereby shortening the interval during the morning rush hour between trains arriving at 6:51 a.m. and 7:29 a.m.

Other changes on the rail network include a slight increase in service between Harrachov and Szklarska Poręba, and the replacement of trains between Nové Město pod Smrkem and Jindřichovice pod Smrkem with the demand-responsive TvůjBus service.

Among the most significant changes to scheduled bus service is the completion of optimization in the Turnov area, which will improve access from the Vyskář region and, on weekends, also between Lomnice nad Popelkou, Turnov, and Liberec, as well as between Jablonec nad Nisou and Turnov. In accordance with public transportation service standards, weekend service will now also be introduced to Pěnčín (in the Turnov area).

Starting in January 2026, a new service will connect Žitava, Bogatynia, and Frýdlant every houron weekdays via Route 692, which will thus complement Route 691 on this route—a route that connects this area with the mountain and spa resort of Świeradów-Zdrój on weekends.

The TvůjBus service—an on-demand transportation service—will also see changes in 2026. In addition to replacing the train and bus service between Nové Město and Jindřichovice pod Smrkem starting in December, the Liberec Region is planning to expand the service gradually to the Železnobrod area (approx. 1st quarter of 2026), Hrádek nad Nisou (approximately the second quarter of 2026), and the Rokytnice area (approximately the third quarter of 2026).

“Following a successful pilot operation, TvůjBus will play a more important role, and at the same time, based on analyses, we are preparing to expand the service. We believe that demand-responsive transportation can be a suitable tool for more efficient public transit service in certain areas,” says Otto Pospíšil, CEO of KORID LK.

In the IDOL fare zone, starting in January 2026, in addition to a 5% increase in fares, a new product—an annual network pass payable in installments—will be introduced, as well as a discounted monthly pass tied to an annual fare commitment. “Passengers will sign a contract with KORID LK committing to pay for the network pass each month, which will allow them to purchase it at a discounted price of 1,000. We are thus accommodating people who have difficulty saving up 10,000 crowns at once for an annual pass, and we believe that this step will make public transportation in our region more attractive,” Sviták commented on the new initiative.

Rail Transport

• New timetable for lines L7 and RE2 | Liberec – Hrádek nad Nisou – Zittau – Varnsdorf.
• Increased service on the Harrachov – Szklarska Poreba section.
• On weekdays, trains on the Nové Město pod Smrkem – Jindřichovice pod Smrkem section will be replaced by on-demand service (TvůjBus 672).

Regional Bus Service

• New Route 692 | Zittau – Bogatynia – Frýdlant.
• Improved connections on the Turnov–Vyskeř route.
• Improved weekend service in the Turnov area.
• New commercial route operated by ČSAD Slaný on the Jablonec nad Nisou – Liberec – Hradec Králové – Brno route; in the Liberec section, service to schools will be increased and the route will be integrated into the IDOL system.
• Adjustments to bus routes in the Chrastava and Hrádek areas in connection with changes to the rail schedule.
• The on-demand service TvůjBus 672 will operate in a so-called “semi-fixed” mode to ensure that children are transported to and from school in Nové Město pod Smrkem.

IDOL Fare Zone

• Prices will increase by 5%, with the exception of annual Network Passes, whose price will remain unchanged. (10,000 CZK)
• A discounted monthly network pass for 12 × 1,000 CZK in the “ABONENT” profile for regular passengers who wish to spread the cost of an annual pass over regular monthly payments.
• New IDOL and DÚK extensions (Česká Lípa–Litoměřice and Nový Bor–Rumburk)
• New 72-hour network pass suitable not only for tourists.
