ČSAD Liberec is ready to provide transportation services in the Českolipsko region.
29. 9. 2021
Starting Sunday, December 12, regular bus service in the Českolipsko region will be provided by the regional transit operator, ČSAD Liberec. Timetables in the region are also being adjusted.
Passengers will notice the change primarily in terms of the renewal of the fleet. “We believe that passengers will appreciate, above all, the modernization of the fleet and barrier-free services, as well as new connection options resulting from the optimization of transportation in the region,” says Jan Sviták, the statutory deputy governor in charge of the transportation department. Twenty-four brand-new vehicles will be deployed in the region starting December 12, with two more arriving by the end of the year. “To ensure reliable transportation, we have purchased 18 new 12-meter low-floor Iveco Crossway buses and 8 new 15-meter buses from the same manufacturer. The buses have the same configuration and design that our passengers in the Liberec region are already familiar with,” explains Martin Bobek, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ČSAD Liberec. Another portion of the fleet will consist of “nearly new” vehicles, with ongoing fleet renewal scheduled for the coming years. There will also be a significant increase in the number of guaranteed routes served by wheelchair-accessible vehicles, from 13 to 43. On weekdays, this means an increase in the number of wheelchair-accessible routes from 197 to 628 (out of a total of 791 trips). “We are currently prepared to provide transportation services, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all ČSAD Liberec employees, the Transportation Services Department, and the Transportation Coordinator for their tremendous efforts in implementing these changes,” added Bobek. However, as in all areas of life, the epidemiological situation related to the coronavirus pandemic poses a risk. Virtually all transit operators (not only) in the Liberec Region are reaching the limits of their capacity to maintain all service routes.
At the same time, extensive adjustments to the timetables will take place in the region. Several routes are being modified, for example between Nový Bor and Česká Lípa, where connections between Bukovany and Písečná and both cities will be improved. Route changes are also taking place between Česká Lípa and Kravaře, where the routes of various lines are being consolidated, and service will be more regular than before. In the mornings, the village of Slunečná will now be connected to Česká Lípa by direct services. A new minibus route will also be introduced, connecting Krompach and Polevsko with Nový Bor. However, even on routes where the paths remain the same, there will be adjustments to the schedules. “As part of the timetable changes, we have conceptually focused on commuter transportation, particularly to workplaces in the industrial areas of the Česká Lípa region, but also on optimizing the capacity of our fleet,” explains Otto Pospíšil, managing director of KORID LK. Through the collaboration between KORID LK and the carrier, high-capacity 15-meter vehicles will be used to a greater extent on backbone routes, while minibuses will be used on routes where passenger demand is lower. “Since there will be more changes in the area, we are preparing more frequent on-site inspections as part of mystery shopping starting December 12, and at the same time, we will have several staff members available to assist passengers and provide them with advice or information about the new changes,” added Pospíšil.
Passengers can find complete information, including the final schedules, on the Liberec Region Integrated Transport website at www.iidol.cz. Passengers can send questions or suggestions regarding the schedules to info@korid.cz or submit them through the Customer Service Center (tel. 488 588 788). The Central Dispatch Center (704 702 000) assists passengers with connections between services.
