Line 400 Will Run More Frequently and Feature New High-Capacity Buses
Česká Lípa, November 20, 2024
A collaboration between three regions—Central Bohemia, Liberec, and Ústí nad Labem—will bring passengers improved service on Line 400 between Prague, Česká Lípa, and Varnsdorf starting in December. New high-capacity 15-meter Scania buses, with seating for 59 passengers, will also be put into service.
“We already operate Route 400 in close cooperation with the Liberec Region, and it has a high ridership. We are pleased that, thanks to the newly awarded contracts, we can now offer greater capacity and a more comfortable travel experience,” says Petr Borecký, councilor for public transportation and mobility in the Central Bohemian Region. Starting December 1, the route will add a new pair of trips on weekdays, another pair on Saturdays, and even two on Sundays. “This route is essential for connecting the Českolipsko region with Prague. We’ve been monitoring its growing ridership, which is why we’re pleased to be collaborating with the Central Bohemian Region, which will deploy new, comfortable 15-meter buses on its section of the route,” adds Jan Sviták, Deputy Governor for Transportation in the Liberec Region. Passengers from Varnsdorf will also see improvements. Thanks to cooperation with the Ústí nad Labem Region, an additional 6 pairs of trips will be added on weekdays (for a total of 15) and 1 pair on weekends (for a total of 8) between Nový Bor and Varnsdorf. In addition, some of the services between Česká Lípa and Mělník will be express, meaning they will make fewer stops. However, on the section between Dubá and Mělník, this service will be supplemented by an enhanced Line 410 running between Mimoň, Doksy, and Prague. Here, the number of services on weekdays will increase from three to five.
Route 400 will be jointly operated by the carriers ČSAD Liberec and ČSAD Střední Čechy. The Central Bohemian carrier will begin operating the route under a new 10-year contract with new vehicles. These will be comfortable Scania buses with a seating capacity of 59 + 2, equipped with a lift, so that passengers with limited mobility can also use them. ČSAD Liberec is deploying low-floor buses on the route that it purchased new in 2021.
“We believe passengers will welcome these changes. Our organizers, KORID LK and IDSK, will continue to monitor the trend, and if it becomes necessary to further strengthen the service, we will address this again,” both transportation councilors concluded in unison.
